There are seven main Mount Kilimanjaro routes leading to the summit. Hiking to the summit will take between 5 to 9 days, and then descend to the finish point. The best dates to climb Kilimanjaro are in the dry seasons: December to March or June to October. For safety reasons we don’t climb during rainy seasons.

Kilimanjaro Routes:

There are seven established Mount Kilimanjaro routes which lead to the summit, Uhuru Peak, one of which starts on the Northern side of the mountain and the rest on the Southern side. They are:

1. Northern Circuit Route
2. Lemosho Route
3. Shira Route
4. Machame Route (“Whiskey” Route)
5. Rongai Route
6. Marangu Route (“Coca-Cola” Route)
7. Umbwe Route

The one question we are asked more often than any other is “which is the best route to climb Kilimanjaro”. And the answer depends on what you want.

Kilimanjaro Dates:

The majority of our clients choose their own dates for their Kilimanjaro trip (at no additional cost), though most request us to open up their climbs for others to join – simply so as to have extra company on the trek.

If you decide to join a group, you don’t need to worry about crowds. Except by special request and agreement, our climbs are limited to 10 trekkers so as to ensure that the guide can closely monitor everyone’s condition, ensure all their needs are being met, and that everyone has the chance to speak to the guide about anything that’s on their mind.
